I took a trip to the King’s Gallery this week to see the Drawing the Italian Renaissance exhibition - such a wealth of style, media, subject and size, it really made me feel re-grounded and ready to face a new year of art.
Some pieces were almost holographic in their capturing of faces with light, completely magical. Others so bold and loose they made me think of Van Gogh’s sketches in his letters to his brother. A terrific treat to see pages from Leonardo’s workbooks too, with his beautiful mirrored handwriting. Inspiring!
